Advanced Medical Support Assistant (Telehealth)
Veterans Health Administration · Department of Veterans Affairs
This job in plain English
This is a full-time, permanent Advanced Medical Support Assistant job in the Telehealth program of the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System, with the Veterans Health Administration. The one opening is in Prescott, Arizona, and the job is on-site only, not remote. The worker is often the first contact for Veterans who ask about telehealth care, so the job is mostly scheduling, phone work, and patient communication.
Can you apply?
Yes, if you are a U.S. citizen: this job is open to everyone.
- Open to everyoneAny U.S. citizen or national can apply. Some jobs also accept non-citizens; the announcement says so.

Do you qualify for GS-6?
With experience: For the GS-6 grade, you need one year of experience at the GS-5 level, such as interacting with customers, keeping medical or administrative records, verifying insurance information, and scheduling appointments. Six months of clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work can qualify you at the entry level.
With education: One year of education above high school can qualify you instead of experience. Education and experience can also be combined to meet the entry-level requirement. Education must come from an accredited school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
How to apply well
What to send:
- Long-form resume or curriculum vitae (CV), required
- Transcript, if you use education to qualify
- SF-50, if you are a current or former federal employee
- Other listed documents only if they apply to you, such as a DD-214 or disability letter
How you will be rated: You will be rated on how well you meet the listed qualifications, including six knowledge, skills, and ability statements that you must show in the online questionnaire. Your application and resume will be verified, and missing or incorrect information may lead to an ineligible rating or a lower score.
