With experience: Entry level needs no previous experience. Intermediate level needs 6 months of experience equivalent to the CY-01 Entry Level working in a group program for children or youth. All levels require you to be at least 18, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and communicate well in English.

With education: Education can replace experience for this job. For intermediate level, 6 semester hours of college credit in early childhood, elementary or secondary education, child and youth development, or special education can qualify you. For target level, 12 semester hours of coursework directly related to the age group served, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) or similar nationally recognized credential, can qualify you. Schools must be accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accreditor, and foreign education must be shown to be equivalent to U.S. education.
