Who can apply: The public.
Open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and people who owe allegiance to the U.S. Non-citizens must have lived in the U.S. or a U.S. territory for at least 3 continuous years before federal service starts, and must now live in the continental U.S. Priority consideration may apply to certain groups, such as current or former Army NAF employees, current federal employees, and outside applicant veterans.
Experience: You need at least 1 year of work experience that gave you the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do this job well. The experience should show practical knowledge of training methods, course development, and teaching adults, ideally gained at the installation level. The announcement does not state a grade level for the experience.
Education: Education is not required and cannot replace experience for this position.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 9 days (November 12, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: A rating panel scores qualified applicants against the minimum qualifications and three highly qualifying criteria. Top candidates may be interviewed and have references checked. Overstated experience or skipped application steps can hurt your chances.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Show each highly qualifying criterion in your resume: customer service in a business setting, adult instruction, and work for Family and MWR programs. Unshown experience gets no credit.
- Keep your resume to two pages or less and include pay plan, series, grade, and to and from dates for every government job.
- Upload your resume early and before 11:59 PM Eastern Time on the closing date, since virus scans can take several hours.
