Who can apply: The public.

This job is open to the public. You must be a U.S. citizen, a national, or someone who owes allegiance to the U.S.

Experience: You need one year of specialized experience at the GS-9 level or higher, which is the level just below this GS-11 job. Specialized experience includes applying supply management rules for compliance and audits, solving complex supply problems, communicating project plans to teams, and researching better business practices for supply programs.

Education: A Ph.D. or doctoral degree can qualify you instead of experience. Three years of progressively higher graduate study leading to a doctorate, or an LL.M. if related, can also qualify. Combining education and experience can also meet the GS-11 requirement.

Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

2 Resume and documents

Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.

3 Apply on USAJOBS

Closes in 5 days (November 8, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).

This job closes once the agency receives 100 applications, which may happen before the closing date.

You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.

How they rate you: Your application is first checked for basic eligibility, and everyone who meets the basic requirements goes to the selecting official. Under this Direct Hire Authority, there is no rule of three, no veterans' preference, and no traditional ranking, and an online questionnaire is used. Errors or missing information may lower your rating or make you ineligible.

4 After you apply

In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Other), then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • Keep your resume to two pages or you will be removed from consideration.
  • List your work schedule, hours per week, dates, and duties for each job on your resume.
  • If you use education to qualify, upload transcripts, because they are required.
