Who can apply: The public.
This job is open to the public, but you must be a U.S. citizen, national, or someone who owes allegiance to the U.S. Current and former federal employees with competitive or excepted status may also apply. Current ODNI employees must apply through JobsDNI or their application will be removed.
Experience: The announcement does not set a fixed number of years of required experience. It asks for expert knowledge of strategy development and the intelligence cycle (the process of collecting and analyzing intelligence), and it lists 5 to 10 years leading offensive counterintelligence work as a desired qualification, not a requirement.
Education: A bachelor's degree is the lowest education level accepted. Schools must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to count.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 10 days (November 13, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
This job will close once 100 applications are received, which may happen before the official closing date.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You will be rated on how well you meet the listed qualifications. The four essay answers are not scored, but the agency reviews them, and the best qualified candidates are sent to the hiring manager. Resumes longer than 2 pages are removed, and missing documents may cost you consideration.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Sensitive Compartmented Information), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Keep your resume to 2 pages or less, since longer resumes are removed.
- Write each essay answer yourself, up to 200 words each, because the agency says using AI or a consultant is not allowed.
- Put the announcement number 27-13103180-DNI/NCSC in the subject line of every document you submit.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
