Experience: You need six months of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that shows you can learn the job (general experience). Paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work, counts.

Education: One full year of education above high school can qualify you instead of experience. You can also combine the two: divide your months of experience by 6, divide your semester hours by 30, and add the two percentages to reach 100%. Transcripts are required if you use education.

4 After you apply
