Who can apply: The public.
Open to the public, but you must be a U.S. citizen, national, or someone who owes allegiance to the U.S. This is a Direct Hire Authority announcement for certain DoD workforce personnel.
Experience: You need one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level. This means evaluating contracting policies and procedures and reviewing contracts, contracting plans, and contract changes for the acquisition method, contract type, and documentation. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts.
Education: A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university meets the basic education requirement. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a private organization as equal to a U.S. degree, or given full credit at a U.S. accredited school. Some current DoD civilians and military members who held similar contracting jobs on or before September 30, 2000 are exempt from the degree requirement. Education cannot replace experience at this grade.
Licenses and certifications:
- DAWIA certification in Contracting, required within 36 months of appointment
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 3 days (November 6, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your application is reviewed against the job qualifications using your resume, supporting documents, and questionnaire responses. If you inflate your qualifications or experience, you may lose consideration. Missing required information can make your application incomplete or rate you ineligible.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must show hours worked per week for each job, or it may be marked incomplete.
- If you qualify through education, upload your transcript with your application or you will be rated ineligible.
- Upload documents early, since virus scans can take up to several hours, and re-select your extra documents in the application.
