Who can apply: The public.
This job is open to all U.S. citizens. Non-citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
Experience: You need one year of experience equivalent to GS-5, the next lower grade. Qualifying work includes answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, entering no-show information, and verifying patient demographics and insurance.
Education: A high school diploma, a GED equivalency certificate, a proficiency certificate from a state or territorial education board, or post-high school education can qualify you. If you use education to qualify, you must send a transcript. Only education from accredited schools recognized by the U.S. Department of Education counts.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 26 days (November 30, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
Yes. This is an open continuous announcement with a first cut-off date and weekly cut-off dates after that. Applications received after a cut-off are referred later, as vacancies occur.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You will be rated on how well you meet the qualifications, including six knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) covering scheduling, medical terminology, teamwork with clinicians, and communication. Your resume must show these clearly, because the agency will not assume your experience. Errors or omissions may affect consideration, and missing required resume details can lead to disqualification.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Include the dates of each job in mm/yyyy format and the hours per week for any part-time work, or you may be disqualified.
- If you have held a government job, list its grade level on your resume.
- Describe your experience with specific examples for each of the six KSAs, since the agency will not assume anything.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
