Who can apply: The public, Military spouses, Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL).
The job is open to the public, but you must be a U.S. citizen or national. Permanent residents with a green card are not eligible for this job. Career transition candidates and military spouses are also listed as eligible groups.
Experience: You need one year of specialized experience at or above the GS-4 level. Specialized experience means work that builds the skills this job needs, such as supporting work in a retail grocery store, operating an electronic checkout system, or giving on-the-job training. Paid and unpaid work, military service, and volunteer work can count.
Education: Four full years of education above high school at an accredited school can qualify you instead of experience. You can also combine experience and education, using the percentage formula in the announcement. Transcripts are required if you use education.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 6 days (November 9, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You answer an online questionnaire about your experience, and your resume must support those answers. Applicants who meet basic qualifications are forwarded to the selecting official, who may interview by phone. Incomplete applications, overstated experience, or photos, social media links, or Social Security numbers on your resume can make you ineligible.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Other), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Show the hours you worked per week for every job on your resume, or your application may be treated as incomplete.
- Keep your resume to two pages or less, because longer resumes are removed from consideration.
- If you use education to qualify, upload unofficial transcripts; a photocopy of your diploma is not accepted.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
