Who can apply: The public.

The job is open to the public, but only U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. can apply. You must provide proof of U.S. citizenship.

Experience: For GS-07, you need one year of specialized experience helping coordinate medical treatment facility services or programs, gathering and verifying information, and applying set procedures to straightforward issues under close supervision. For GS-09, you need one year of specialized experience providing administrative support to medical treatment facilities, such as managing programs, conducting interviews, reviewing records, or checking compliance, and maintaining data and reports.

Education: The basic requirement can be met with a bachelor's degree or higher in behavioral or social science, such as sociology or social work. It can also be met with a mix of education and experience, or with four years of experience showing knowledge of behavioral or social sciences equal to a major. For GS-07, one full year of graduate education in a related field can qualify, as can superior academic achievement: top third of your class, a GPA of 3.0 or higher, or membership in an approved honor society. For GS-09, a master's degree or two full years of progressively higher graduate education in a related field can qualify. Foreign education must be evaluated by a recognized service or receive full credit from a U.S. accredited school.

Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

2 Resume and documents

Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.

3 Apply on USAJOBS

Closes tomorrow (November 4, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).

You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.

How they rate you: Your full application package (resume, supporting documents, and questionnaire) is reviewed to see if you meet the qualification requirements. If you are found to have inflated your qualifications or experience, you may lose consideration, and errors or missing information can affect your eligibility.

Apply on USAJOBS ↗
4 After you apply

In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • Your resume must show dates by month and year, hours per week, and duties for each job, or your application may be marked incomplete.
  • Keep your resume to two pages or less, because longer resumes are removed from consideration.
  • If you qualify using education, you must upload your transcript or you will be rated ineligible.
