Who can apply: The public.
Open to the public in the local commuting area, but you must be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or someone who owes allegiance to the U.S. This is a Direct Hire Authority announcement.
Experience: You need one year of specialized experience (work that gave you the skills to do this job) at a level equal to GS-9 or higher, to qualify for GS-11. Qualifying work includes managing equipment or vehicle fleets, advising on equipment and vehicle management, coordinating with vendors and engineers, and entering maintenance data in EBS and EMACS.
Education: A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent), 3 full years of graduate study toward one, or an LL.M. if related can count instead of experience. Education and experience can also be combined to reach the GS-11 requirement. The school must be accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accreditor.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 4 days (November 8, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
The job closes when the agency receives 100 applications, which may happen before the closing date.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your application is first checked for basic eligibility, and those who meet the basic requirements go to the selecting official. Rule of Three, veterans' preference, and traditional rating and ranking do not apply, and errors or missing information can lower your rating or make you ineligible.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Other), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Keep your resume to two pages or less, because longer resumes are removed from consideration.
- Show work schedule, hours per week, dates, and duties for each job on your resume.
- If you use education to qualify, upload a transcript, which is required.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
