Do you qualify for GS-7 (up to GS-12)?

With experience: You need 52 weeks (1 year) of specialized experience at least equal to GS-5. Examples include planning, scheduling, or collecting economic or survey data from companies by visit, video, phone, or email, or entering that data into software.

With education: You must have a degree in economics with at least 21 semester hours of economics and 3 semester hours of statistics, accounting, or calculus, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. For this level, 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement (top third of class, GPA of 3.0 or higher, or an honor society membership) can count toward qualifying. Schools must be accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized body.

Licenses and certifications you need:

  • Valid driver's license

How to apply well

What to send:

  • Resume of 2 pages or less, listing month, year, and hours worked per week for each job
  • Unofficial transcripts if you use education to qualify, with each school's transcript that shows required courses
  • Official transcripts if selected, before a firm job offer
  • DD-214 if you claim veterans' preference
  • Placement documents only if you claim CTAP or ICTAP priority
  • Cover letter is optional

How you will be rated: Your resume, supporting documents, and vacancy question answers place you in Category A, B, or C. You may also take USA Hire online assessments (about 2 hours) on attention to detail, integrity/honesty, interpersonal skills, and reading comprehension, and interviews or reference checks may follow. Missing required information can lower your rating, and a resume longer than 2 pages makes you ineligible.

Tips for this job:

  • List the month, year, and hours per week for each job on your resume to get full credit for experience.
  • Keep your resume to 2 pages or less, or your application will be ruled ineligible.
  • Submit all required documents by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the closing date, including transcripts if you use education to qualify.
