Who can apply: The public, Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL).
This job is open to U.S. citizens or nationals and to career transition eligibles (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL). CTAP and ICTAP are programs for current or former federal employees who were surplus, displaced, or involuntarily separated, and they get priority selection rights.
Experience: You need at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in federal service, in either public or private sector work. Your experience must cover budget and accounting work like the duties listed above. Your resume must state full-time or part-time and hours worked per week for each job.
Education: You can qualify with a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher graduate study leading to such a degree, or a law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) if related. The degree must reflect the knowledge needed for the work. You can also combine education and experience, where graduate semester hours above 18 and full-time experience months each count toward 100 percent. Education cannot replace experience at this grade.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 9 days (November 12, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You are rated using category rating (Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified) based on your resume, the application questionnaire, and the USA Hire assessment. Overstating experience, false statements, or cheating can remove you from consideration.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must list hours per week or say full-time for every job, or that time may not count.
- Include transcripts if you use education to qualify, and attach CTAP/ICTAP proof if you claim that priority.
- Complete the USA Hire assessment within the deadline, since you must meet the cut score to be considered.
