Who can apply: The public, Federal employees - Competitive service, Internal to an agency, Federal employees - Excepted service.
You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. The job is open to the public, and the agency also says it is open to current permanent VA employees, current permanent federal employees of other agencies, and all U.S. citizens.
Experience: This job is GS-6. You need 1 year of experience equivalent to GS-5 level, such as coordinating patient care flow, managing follow-up care tracking, or using advanced patient systems across clinics. The basic minimum is 6 months of clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work.
Education: One year of education above high school can meet the basic minimum instead of experience. Education must come from a school accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting body.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 3 days (November 6, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You are rated on your application, resume, questionnaire answers, and the USA Hire online competency assessment covering customer service, flexibility, integrity, interpersonal skills, reading comprehension, reasoning, self-management, and teamwork. You must meet the assessment cut score, and not finishing the assessment means you will not be considered. Errors or missing information may lower your rating, and the agency may check your information and contact references.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Write a clear, specific resume with dates, hours per week, and duties for each job, because the agency says it will not assume your experience.
- Finish the USA Hire assessment on time; if your link arrives after the close, you must complete it within 48 hours.
- If you claim veterans' preference, select it in the questionnaire and attach your DD-214; this does not apply to internal or current federal employees.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
