Do you qualify for GS-15?

With experience: You need at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-14 in community health work, such as planning and directing a health program, making diagnoses and prescribing treatment, or setting health care policies. For GS-15, you also need 5 years of graduate training in the job's specialty, or equivalent experience and training.

With education: A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from a school in the U.S. or Canada accredited by a recognized body. A foreign medical degree also works if you have ECFMG permanent certification, a fifth pathway certificate, or passed the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. You must also have at least 1 year of supervised clinical training after your medical degree, such as an internship or the first year of residency.

Licenses and certifications you need:

How to apply well

What to send:

  • Resume showing duties, dates and total hours per week for each job; only the first two pages are reviewed

Tips for this job:

  • Make your resume show your hours per week and clear duties for every job, since only the first two pages are reviewed.
  • Show at least 1 year of GS-14-level experience in community health program planning or patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • If you claim Indian preference, submit a signed and dated BIA-4432 form with any required tribal verification, or it will not be given.
