Licensed Practical Nurse – CLC

What you would do

• Give medications as ordered by the provider.
• Document patient care and report findings to the registered nurse.
• Work under a registered nurse who gives daily assignments and guidance.
• Communicate with Veterans, families, and the care team.
• Act as a patient advocate and take responsibility for nursing actions.

Do you qualify for GS-3 to GS-6?

With experience: For GS-3, no experience is needed beyond the basic requirements. For GS-4, you need 6 months of experience as an LPN or LVN, or graduation from an approved school plus 1 year of nursing care work, or graduation from an approved school of at least 24 months. GS-5 requires 1 year at GS-4, and GS-6 requires 1 more year at GS-5.

With education: You must be a graduate of a practical nursing program approved by a state accrediting agency or the National League for Nursing. Graduation from an approved school of at least 24 months can qualify you for GS-4. Education must come from a school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education needs a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency.

Licenses and certifications you need:

• Full, current, active, and unrestricted license as a licensed practical nurse in a U.S. state, territory, Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia
