Who can apply: The public.
U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. may apply. The job is open to the public but restricted to the local commuting area.
Experience: You need one year of specialized experience at the GS-9 level, which is the level just below this GS-11 job. Qualifying work includes monitoring MIS error tables, reviewing and interpreting MIS data, or compiling and presenting data in a required format.
Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M. if related can be used. The school must be accredited by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Combinations of education and experience may also be used for GS-11, but only graduate education above the amount needed for the next lower grade counts.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 2 days (November 5, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
The job will close once 100 applications are received, which may be before the stated closing date.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your application is checked for basic eligibility, and everyone who meets the basic requirements goes to the selecting official. The Rule of Three, veterans' preference, and rating and ranking do not apply, and missing information or errors can lower your rating or make you ineligible.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Secret), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Keep your resume to two pages or less, or you will be removed from consideration.
- Show work schedule, hours per week, dates of employment, and duties for each job on your resume.
- If you use education to qualify, submit a transcript, because it is required.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
