Who can apply: The public.
The announcement is open to the public, but its 'Who May Apply' section says only U.S. citizens may apply. You must prove U.S. citizenship.
Experience: You need five years of graduate training in the specialty of the position, or equivalent experience and training. You also need at least one year of supervised clinical work after medical school, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency.
Education: You need a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or an equivalent degree, from a school accredited in the United States or Canada. A foreign medical degree must be shown to be equivalent by ECFMG certification, a fifth pathway certificate, or passing the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
Licenses and certifications:
- Current, active, full, unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, if required
- Valid stateside driver's license, if required
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 120 days (February 28, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: After the announcement closes, your resume, supporting documents, and questionnaire answers are reviewed to see if you meet the qualifications. Missing documents or errors can make you ineligible, and if your qualifications appear inflated, you may lose consideration.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Attach both your transcript and your physician license or certification, because missing either can make you ineligible.
- Keep your resume to two pages or less and list hours per week for each job.
- Apply by 11:59 PM EST on 02/28/2027, and upload documents early since virus scans can take hours.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
