Do you qualify for GS-13?

With experience: You need at least 1 year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12). The experience should show oversight of pharmacy clinical services, preparing a department budget, collecting workload data, and assigning work to and evaluating staff.

With education: You need a doctoral degree in Pharmacy from a program accredited by ACPE or another accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This is a basic requirement, so you must have it in addition to licensing and experience.

Licenses and certifications you need:

  • Passed the NAPLEX and MPJE pharmacy exams
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in a state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory
  • Medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements, must be obtained and kept

How to apply well

What to send:

  • Resume showing job dates, duties, and total hours per week for each position (only first two pages are reviewed)
  • Transcripts or a list of courses with titles, credit hours, and grades (strongly encouraged)
  • Licenses and certifications listed on your resume with expiration dates
  • Form BIA-4432 if you claim Indian preference, properly signed and dated
  • CTAP or ICTAP documentation if you claim those priorities
  • Optional essay answers to four questions, 200 words or less each, not scored, with a certification of no AI or consultant use

How you will be rated: Your application is first checked for minimum qualifications. Subject matter experts then review the first two pages of your resume for specialized experience, and this step is pass or fail, so applicants without the required experience are removed. Any exaggerated or false statements may disqualify you.

Tips for this job:

  • Put specialized experience on the first two pages of your resume, including oversight, budgets, workload data, and staff supervision.
  • Include a properly signed and dated Form BIA-4432 if you claim Indian preference, or it will not be given.
  • Stay on the application page until you see the confirmation, because timing out or returning to USAJOBS early means the application is not submitted.
