Experience: For the GS-8 supervisor level, you need one year of experience comparable to GS-7 work. The basic requirement is six months of experience that shows you can do the work or understand it.
Education: One year of education beyond high school that includes at least 6 semester hours in health care courses, such as sterile processing, nursing assistant, hospital corpsman, operating room, or surgical technician courses, or other related courses. Education can be combined with experience. Only degrees and courses from accredited schools count.
Licenses and certifications:
- Sterile Processing Service (SPS) Level 1 certification, to be completed within 90 days of hire

3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 3 days (November 6, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
This job will close once 50 applications are received, which may happen before the closing date.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You will be rated on how well you meet the qualifications. Your application, resume, and supporting documents will be verified, and the agency will not assume anything about your experience. Missing or unclear information may result in an ineligible rating or a lower rating.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Be clear and specific about your experience, with dates and duties, since the agency will verify it and will not assume anything.
- If you use education to qualify, include a transcript and list your health care courses with semester hours from an accredited school.
- Complete the full online questionnaire and submit all required documents by the closing date, because missing items can lower your rating.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
