With experience: You need one year or more of specialized experience at a level comparable to GS-14, the next lower grade. This should include industrial security (mainly the National Industrial Security Program, NISP) or security plus business work such as legal, mergers and acquisitions, finance, auditing, or due diligence, along with managing projects or programs and leading or mentoring teams.
With education: Education cannot replace experience at this grade. Any education you list must come from a school accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Licenses and certifications you need:
- Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (must obtain within 12 months of appointment)
- Industrial Security Oversight Certification (must obtain within 12 months of appointment)
How to apply well
What to send:
- Resume of no more than two pages showing dates (month/year), hours per week, and duties
- Responses to the online application questionnaire
- Most recent SF-50 if you are or were a federal civilian employee
- DD-214, SF-15, and VA letter if you claim veterans' preference or use a veterans hiring authority
- Other proof-of-eligibility documents listed in the announcement's linked DLA guide
How you will be rated: Your resume, questionnaire answers, and documents are checked against the requirements. You can be rated ineligible or not qualified if your resume does not support your questionnaire answers or if required documents are missing. An online assessment also measures six competencies, and interviews may be required.
Tips for this job:
- Keep your resume to two pages or less, because longer resumes are removed from consideration.
- List the dates (month/year), hours per week, and duties for every job on your resume.
- Submit both a resume and the questionnaire, since having only one means you cannot be considered.
