Do you qualify for GS-9 to GS-11?
With experience: For the GS-9 level, no experience is needed beyond the basic requirements. For the GS-11 level, you need one year of professional social work experience after your master's degree, at the GS-9 level, in health care or another social work setting, plus independent state licensure.
With education: You need a master's degree in social work from a school fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). A school in candidacy status does not count until it is fully accredited, and a doctoral degree in social work cannot replace the master's. For GS-11, a doctoral degree in social work may replace the one year of clinical experience.

- State license or certification to practice social work independently at the master's level
