Who can apply: The public.
Only U.S. citizens can apply. The job is open to the public, including current permanent VA employees and current permanent federal employees of other agencies.
Experience: You need at least 2 years of experience after you earned advanced practice clinical licensure, in a specialized area of social work. One of those years must be equivalent to the GS-11 level.
Education: You need a master's degree in social work from a school fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). A doctoral degree in social work cannot replace the master's degree.
Licenses and certifications:
- State license to independently practice social work at the master's level
- Advanced-level state license or certification, including an advanced generalist or clinical exam, and the ability to provide licensure supervision
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

4 After you apply
