Who can apply: Internal to an agency, Federal employees - Excepted service, The public, Federal employees - Competitive service.
You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. The announcement is open to all U.S. citizens, including current permanent federal employees and past or present Health Professional Trainees.
Experience: You need at least 2 years of experience after getting advanced practice social work licensure, in a specialized area of social work. One of those years must be at the GS-11 level.
Education: You need a master's degree in social work from a school fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). A doctoral degree in social work cannot replace the master's degree. Schools in candidacy status do not count until they are fully accredited.
Licenses and certifications:
- Current state social work license at the advanced practice level, including an advanced generalist or clinical exam, unless grandfathered
- Ability to provide supervision for licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, kept current
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents

4 After you apply

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Include a license showing issue and expiration dates, since it is required with your application package.
