Who can apply: Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL), The public.
This job is open to the public, but you must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or someone who owes allegiance to the U.S. Displaced federal employees under CTAP or ICTAP get selection priority.
Experience: One full year of specialized experience at the GS-4 level as a Security Assistant or similar work. The experience should include computer data entry, compiling reports, keeping information confidential, and courteous customer service.
Education: Four years of education above high school from an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university. You can also combine education with experience, but only education beyond the first 60 semester hours counts toward the experience part.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 3 days (November 6, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You will be rated on your application, your questionnaire answers, and a USA Hire online assessment that measures eight competencies, including attention to detail, customer service, and stress tolerance. You must meet the cut score, and overstating your experience or cheating on the assessment can get you removed.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Other), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must show the job title, duties, start and end months and years, and hours per week for each past job.
- Keep your resume to two pages or less, or you will not be considered.
- Attach a transcript if you use education to qualify, and make sure the school is accredited.
