4 After you apply

In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • If you are a current federal employee, send a recent non-award SF-50 that shows your grade and step.
  • Your resume must list month and year dates, hours per week, and your education with conferred dates.
  • The 2-page resume limit does not apply to this job, so a full long-form CV is fine.
