Do you qualify for VN?
With experience: Experience counts toward the grade you qualify for, such as 1 year of specialized nursing experience at the Nurse I Level I level for Nurse I Level II, or 2 years of professional nursing experience for Nurse I Level III. Experience is checked for quality on five nursing areas: practice, veteran and patient-driven care, leadership, professional development, and evidence-based practice and research.
With education: You must be a graduate of a professional nursing school approved and accredited by ACEN or CCNE. An associate degree or diploma in nursing qualifies you for Nurse I Level I with no extra experience. A bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) qualifies you for Nurse I Level II with no extra experience, and higher degrees can qualify for higher levels. Schools must be accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accrediting body, and foreign degrees above associate level need a formal equivalency check.
Licenses and certifications you need:
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registered nurse (RN) license from a U.S. state, territory, Puerto Rico, or D.C.

Tips for this job:
- Use a long-form resume or CV with clear dates and hours per week, because the VA will not assume anything about your experience.
