Who can apply: The public.
This job is open to the public, but applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. Preference categories include military spouses, veterans, and others, and you must submit proof of any eligibility you claim.
Experience: At NF 2, you need experience with recreation or morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) business operations, or community event planning, along with budgeting, customer service, written and oral communication, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts, but the announcement does not state a number of years.
Education: Education cannot replace experience for this job. Foreign education counts only if you show proof it is equivalent to a U.S. education.
Licenses and certifications:
- Valid vehicle operator's license
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 4 days (November 8, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your resume, supporting documents, and questionnaire answers are reviewed against the qualifications, and minimally qualified applicants are compared on their experience level. If the agency finds you inflated your answers or experience, you may lose consideration, and performance appraisals and incentive awards may be considered.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Include clear dates and duties in your resume for each job that shows the required skills, especially budgeting and customer service.
- Upload proof of any preference you claim, such as a DD-214, or your application may be marked incomplete.
- Submit your full package, including the resume and questionnaire, by 11:59 PM EST on the closing date.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
