Who can apply: The public.
Open to the public, including worldwide applicants. You must be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or someone who owes allegiance to the United States. No relocation payment is offered.
Experience: The announcement does not set a number of years of experience. Your resume must show paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work, that matches the duties and skills listed, such as customer service, cash handling, point of sale systems, computer use, and basic custodial and arithmetic tasks. For each job, list the duties, the total hours per week, and the dates.
Education: This position does not have an education requirement. If you rely on education to qualify, it must come from a school accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Licenses and certifications:
- Valid State driver's license (required to operate motor vehicles)
- C.A.R.E. (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively) training
- Emergency First Responder (EFR) or CPR First Aid certification
- Food Handler certification
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 5 days (November 8, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your resume and an occupational questionnaire are rated against the job's skills and knowledge. Your questionnaire rating is a self-rating, and you may be rated lower or removed if your resume does not support your answers.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Other), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must show dates, hours per week, duties and addresses for each job, or you may be rated lower.
- Make sure your questionnaire answers match what your resume says, because the resume is used to check them.
- Have your Social Security card and REAL ID or passport ready, and plan how you will meet the certifications within 90 days if you do not already hold them.
