Who can apply: The public.

Open to the public, but only U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. can apply.

Experience: For GS-07: 1 year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS-05, such as applying production methods and planning, analyzing production work data, and using automated records and control systems. For GS-05: 1 year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS-04, such as compiling production data and assisting higher-graded production controllers.

Education: For GS-05 only: 4 years of education above high school in any field, from an accredited school, can replace experience. One year of full-time study means 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent. Foreign education counts only if you can show it is comparable to accredited U.S. education.

Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

2 Resume and documents

Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.

3 Apply on USAJOBS

Closes in 2 days (November 5, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).

You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.

How they rate you: Qualified applicants are rated on the information in the resume and supporting documents, and qualified applicants are referred to the hiring manager, who may interview them. Applicants may be found ineligible if the flyer finds they inflated their experience, or if the package is incomplete or the resume is illegible.

4 After you apply

In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • Make the resume show dates in month and year, plus hours per week for any part-time job, since missing details can lower your rating.
  • If you qualify through school, send transcripts or a course list with your application, as the flyer requires.
  • Use the phone number 619-545-7729, which the flyer says is correct, instead of the number in the agency contact info.
