Who can apply: The public.
The job is open to the public, but applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. Non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited. Former Education Debt Reduction Program participants cannot apply for that incentive.
Experience: You must have completed an approved residency in an accredited core specialty training program that leads to board certification eligibility. Other paths include one year of approved post-medical school training followed by two years of independent practice in the U.S., or a non-U.S. residency followed by at least three years of verified independent practice in the U.S.
Education: You need a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, or an equivalent degree, from an approved school. Foreign medical graduates must meet the ECFMG eligibility requirement for the year they graduated.
Licenses and certifications:
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 86 days (January 29, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
The announcement may close before the closing date if the position is filled another way. Referrals are also made on cut-off dates set every two weeks.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You will be rated on how well you meet the listed qualifications. Your application, resume, C.V. and supporting documents will be verified, and errors or omissions may affect your consideration.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- If you want loan repayment, submit the Education Debt Reduction Program application within four months of appointment.
- Send a C.V. or resume. The 2-page resume rule does not apply to this job.
- Bring REAL ID compliant identification, since non-REAL ID state IDs cannot be used after May 7, 2025.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
