Who can apply: The public.
The job is open to the public, but you must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or owe allegiance to the U.S. Non-citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens, and former Education Debt Reduction Program participants cannot apply for that incentive.
Experience: You must have completed approved residency training. Five years of experience in Home-Based Primary Care or Primary Care is preferred, with preference for board certification in internal medicine, family medicine, or geriatric medicine.
Education: You need a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an approved medical school. Foreign medical graduates must meet the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility rules for their graduation year.
Licenses and certifications:
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state, territory, or D.C.
- Board certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) in the specialty listed in the announcement
- Valid driver's license
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
