Who can apply: The public, Internal to an agency.
The job is open to the public and to current federal employees of the VA. You must be a U.S. citizen, a national, or someone who owes allegiance to the U.S.; non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
Experience: No set number of years of work experience is listed. You must have completed approved residency training in an accredited core specialty program, or meet one of the alternatives listed in the announcement, such as one year of approved post-medical school training followed by two years of independent practice in the U.S.
Education: You need a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine from a school approved by the VA for the year you finished. Foreign medical graduates must meet Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility rules for their graduation year.
Licenses and certifications:
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, D.C., or Commonwealth
