Who can apply: The public.
The job is open to the public. The announcement says only U.S. citizens may apply, and you must prove U.S. citizenship.
Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience that includes preparing medications, providing patient counseling, and monitoring the dispensing of pharmaceuticals. Experience in Leapfrog and Antimicrobial Stewardship is preferred.
Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or another accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, earned when the degree was obtained. Education cannot replace experience for this job. You are exempt from the degree requirement if you are a current federal employee in the 0660 pharmacist series and have been continuously employed in it since September 27, 2017 or earlier.
Licenses and certifications:
- Current, active, valid, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 6 days (November 10, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your application package (resume, supporting documents, and questionnaire answers) is reviewed to see if you meet the listed qualifications. Inflating your qualifications or experience can cause you to lose consideration, and missing or incomplete documents can make your application ineligible.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must show the month and year for each job and the hours you worked per week.
- Attach your pharmacy license and doctoral transcripts, or you will be rated ineligible.
- Because education cannot replace experience here, make sure your one year of pharmacy experience is clearly described on your resume.
