Who can apply: The public, Federal employees - Competitive service, Federal employees - Excepted service, Internal to an agency.
You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. The announcement gives first consideration to current permanent VA employees at the facility, then other VA employees, then current permanent federal employees of other agencies, and then all other applicants.
Experience: Six months of general experience that shows you can learn the knowledge and skills of a Nursing Assistant qualifies you for the GS-03 entry level. For GS-04, you need one year of specialized experience as a Nursing Assistant or in another medical field, such as licensed practical nurse or hospital corpsman.
Education: One year of education above high school with courses related to nursing assistant work can qualify you. Completing an intensive, specialized training program of less than one year may also meet the GS-03 experience requirement. For GS-04, two years above high school with courses in nursing care, health care, or a related field can qualify.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 6 days (November 9, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You are rated on how well you meet the qualifications, and your answers are checked against your resume. An incomplete application receives an IFFM rating (ineligible due to missing forms), and selected applicants may be asked for written responses to knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs).
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must list month and year start and end dates, hours per week, and duties for each job.
- If you are a current or former federal employee, attach your most recent non-award SF-50 showing grade and step.
- If you use education to qualify, attach your transcript, since the agency will not contact you for missing documents.
