Do you qualify for VN?
With experience: For the top grade, Nurse III, you need a master's degree in nursing (MSN) and 2 years of specialized nursing experience (experience focused on a specific area of nursing), one year of which must match Nurse II and meet all five dimension requirements. Five years of mental health experience is preferred, and supervisory experience is also preferred.
With education: You must be a graduate of a nursing school accredited by ACEN or CCNE. For Nurse III, an MSN plus 2 years of specialized nursing experience qualifies, as does a doctoral degree in nursing plus 1 year of specialized nursing experience. Education from foreign schools is not counted as a related degree.
Licenses and certifications you need:
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registered nurse (RN) license or registration in a U.S. state, territory, or DC
How to apply well

Your RN experience is judged on five areas: Practice, Veteran/Patient Driven Care, Leadership, Professional Development, and Evidence-Based Practice/Research; the VA will not assume details, and errors or missing information may lower your rating or make you ineligible.
