Experience: Entry level (GS-3) needs no experience beyond the basic requirements. Creditable experience is medical support assistant work or similar administrative patient support work in a non-VA hospital or clinic.
Education: A high school diploma, GED, or state proficiency certificate meets the basic requirement. One year of education above high school can qualify for GS-4, and two years above high school can qualify for GS-5. Only education from schools accredited by a body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education counts.
