Who can apply: The public.
The job is open to the public. The agency states it is open to all U.S. citizens.
Experience: You need at least 1 year of experience that is equal to the next lower grade. For GG-12, this means leading complex management studies and program evaluations. For GG-11, it means conducting studies of programs, processes, and systems. For GG-9, it means helping with data review, workflow documentation, and preliminary reports. Paid, unpaid, volunteer, and military experience all count.
Education: Two full years of graduate school, such as a Master's degree, can replace the GG-9 experience requirement. Three full years of graduate study toward a Ph.D. or doctoral degree can replace the GG-11 experience requirement. The school must be accredited by a body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. Education cannot replace experience at GG-12.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes tomorrow (November 5, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your resume and documents will be compared with your questionnaire answers to see if you are qualified. If you appear to have inflated your qualifications or experience, you may lose consideration. Errors or missing information may lower your rating.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Sensitive Compartmented Information), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must list month and year start and end dates, and hours per week, for each job.
- If you use graduate school to qualify, send all official transcripts when you apply.
- If you are a current or former federal employee, send your SF-50 or you may be disqualified.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
