Who can apply: The public.
Open to the public. You must be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or someone who owes allegiance to the U.S. Applicants are grouped by hiring preferences, such as military spouse or veteran preference, and must prove any eligibility they claim by the closing date.
Experience: You need experience in facility and equipment maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, and painting, and the ability to plan and direct workers. Supervisory experience in another lodging area, such as housekeeping or logistics, can count in place of maintenance experience.
Education: Education cannot replace experience at this grade. Education from a foreign college can count if you show it is equivalent to a U.S. education.
Licenses and certifications:
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 2 days (October 30, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your resume and supporting documents are compared against the job qualifications and your questionnaire answers. If it appears you inflated your answers, you may lose consideration, and errors or omissions may affect your eligibility. List relevant performance appraisals and incentive awards on your resume.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must clearly show your maintenance and supervisory experience, with dates and hours per week.
- Upload proof of any preference you claim by the closing date, or your application will be marked incomplete.
- Submit by 11:59 PM EST on 10/30/2026, and re-select your resume and documents during the final submission step.
