4 After you apply

In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Sensitive Compartmented Information), then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • Your resume must show your specialized experience with month and year dates, duties, and accomplishments, and it must support your questionnaire answers.
  • Complete the USA Hire assessment within 48 hours after the closing date, because you will not be considered if you miss the cut score or do not finish it.
  • Do not repeat the specialized experience statement in your resume, or you may be ruled ineligible.
