Who can apply: The public.
Only U.S. citizens can apply. The job is open to the public, and CTAP/ICTAP eligible federal employees get priority. It is filled under direct-hire authority, so traditional veterans' preference rules do not apply, but qualified veterans get full consideration.
Experience: You need one year of specialized experience at the GS-7 level, which is equal to GS-6 work. Examples include helping with psychiatric crisis care, preparing instruments, collecting specimens, giving medications, or documenting in an electronic health record. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts.
Education: One full year of graduate education directly related to the job can meet the GS-7 requirement instead of experience. Transcripts are required. Only degrees from schools accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized body count, and foreign education needs a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 56 days (December 29, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
This is an open continuous announcement, so applicants are referred as needed. The initial referral cut-off date is December 29, 2026, and the posting may close sooner if the agency no longer needs it.
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You are rated on how well you meet the qualifications, based on your resume and your answers to an occupational questionnaire. The agency does not assume your experience, so missing details can lower your score or make you ineligible. Applicants are referred in the order their applications were received.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Other), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Keep your resume to two pages or less and list dates, hours per week, and specific tasks you performed.
- If you want to qualify through graduate education, upload transcripts with your application.
- Complete the occupational questionnaire and upload all required documents before the deadline, because missing items can make you ineligible.
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
