Who can apply: The public, Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL).
This job is open to the public. You must be a U.S. citizen or national to apply. Current federal employees whose job was eliminated may get priority under career transition programs (CTAP, ICTAP, or RPL) if they submit the required documents and are rated well qualified.
Experience: You need at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level comparable to GS-13 in the federal government, gained in the private or public sector. It must include leading cross-functional teams, product management oversight for health care IT products, reviewing system architecture, and advising stakeholders on controversial technical or policy matters. You must also show IT-related experience in four areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
Education: This job has no education requirement.
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 2 days (November 5, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your application materials, questionnaire answers, and online assessments are used to rate you. A subject matter expert helps review your resume, and you must meet or exceed the assessment cut score. Overstating your experience or cheating on the assessment can get you removed, and you are placed in a Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified category.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Your resume must list each job's start and end dates in mm/yyyy format, hours per week, and supervisor contact details, or you may be found ineligible
- Show specific examples for all four basic competencies and each of the four minimum qualification items, and keep the resume to 2 pages
- If your assessment link arrives after the announcement closes, you must finish the assessments within 48 hours
