Who can apply: Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL), The public.

Open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Also open to eligible displaced federal employees under CTAP and ICTAP, who get selection priority if rated well qualified.

Experience: You need at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal government, from private or public sector work. It must include targeted outreach to build recruitment pipelines, using social media and networking sites to attract candidates, and representing an organization at recruitment events. Volunteer experience counts.

Education: Education cannot replace experience at this grade. No degree is required for this job.

Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

2 Resume and documents

Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.

3 Apply on USAJOBS

Closes in 9 days (November 12, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).

You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.

How they rate you: You are rated on your resume, your answers to the occupational questionnaire, and a required USA Hire online assessment that has a minimum cut score. A subject matter expert may help review resumes, and overstating experience or cheating can get you removed from consideration.

4 After you apply

In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • Your resume must show each job's duties, dates in mm/yyyy format, and hours per week, or it may be rated ineligible.
  • Describe your outreach, social media recruiting, and career fair work in your own words, because copying from the announcement can make you ineligible.
  • Complete the USA Hire assessment within the deadline in your notification, and request accommodations before starting if you need them.
