For GS-5, you need 1 year of specialized experience at least equal to GS-4, such as supporting medical staff, clinic clerical work, creating nurse schedules, or tracking patient data.
Education: For GS-4, 2 years of college study with at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the job can qualify you. For GS-5, a full 4-year bachelor's degree with a major or at least 24 semester hours in related subjects can qualify you. 3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 14 days (November 18, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: You will complete a USA Hire online assessment that measures nine skills, including attention to detail, customer service, teamwork and stress tolerance, along with an application questionnaire and your resume. You will be placed in a quality category: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified. Overstating your experience or cheating on an assessment can get you removed, and missing the assessment window makes you ineligible.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Other), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- List the dates and hours per week for every job on your resume, since missing details can lower your rating or make you ineligible.
- If you claim Indian preference, include a signed and dated Form BIA-4432 with tribal verification when you apply.
- Have two valid IDs ready, and make sure any state ID or driver's license is REAL ID-compliant, since background forms are due within 5 days.
