Who can apply: The public.
The job is open to the public. Only U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. can apply.
Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-5 level: scheduling medical appointments, triaging patients (sorting them by how urgent their care is), and taking vital signs in a medical treatment facility or clinic. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts.
Education: A four-year bachelor's degree with a major in a related subject, or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the job. You can also combine education and experience. Divide your months of experience by 12, add your semester hours beyond 60 divided by 60, and the total must reach 100%. Foreign education must be evaluated by a recognized organization as equal to a U.S. accredited program.
Licenses and certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, which you must obtain and keep
Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 8 days (November 12, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your full application package (resume, supporting documents, and questionnaire answers) is reviewed to see if you meet the qualifications. Errors or missing information can lower your rating, and an incomplete package is not considered further. If your experience appears inflated, you may lose consideration.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Keep your resume to two pages or less, or it will be removed from consideration
- List hours per week for each job, since missing hours can make your application incomplete
- If you use education to qualify, upload your transcript, or your education will not be counted
Kandidatu is an independent website: only the official posting counts. Read it before you apply.
