Who can apply: The public.
Only U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. can apply. You must prove U.S. citizenship.
Experience: One year of specialized experience comparable to GS-7. It must include medical coding across multiple specialties, coding analysis to find trends and errors, and teaching clinical and coding staff.
Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of graduate education toward such a degree, in hospital administration, public health administration, or a related field such as business or public administration with health care administration coursework. Foreign education must be evaluated by a recognized private organization or given full U.S. credit. Education can also be combined with experience, with the total reaching at least 100%.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
