For GS-9, you need one year equivalent to GS-7 in similar work, including helping develop rangeland management plans to improve range condition and reduce invasive species.
Education: A degree in range management or a related field, with at least 42 semester hours in plant, animal and soil sciences and natural resources management, including at least 18 hours in range management. Graduate education can also qualify for GS-7 (one year, 18 semester hours in a related field) and GS-9 (two years of graduate study toward a master's). A bachelor's degree with high class rank, a qualifying GPA or honor society membership can qualify for GS-7.
Licenses and certifications:

Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 26 days (November 30, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Veterans' preference and competitive rating and ranking do not apply. The HR office checks whether you meet the minimum qualifications, and qualified applicants may be referred to the hiring official. Resumes longer than two pages, supplemental attachments, incomplete information or false statements can lead to removal from consideration.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Put the hours per week or full-time/part-time status next to every job on your resume, or that time may not count.
- Prove you live within 75 miles or 90 minutes of the duty stations; an SF-50 will not work as proof of residence.
- If you use a degree to qualify, submit transcripts showing your name, school, grades, credit hours, major and GPA or class rank.
