Who can apply: National Guard and reserves, The public.

Open to U.S. citizens, nationals, and people who owe allegiance to the U.S. You must be a current National Guard member, or be eligible to join at an enlisted grade from E-4 to E-6, and must be a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard if selected. If you are not serving in any military branch, you may apply with a letter stating your intent to join.

Experience: General experience means progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that shows you can learn the job. Specialized experience means one year of on-the-job experience with a basic understanding of the financial work. The announcement does not name a grade level for this experience.

Education: Military technical training schools and civilian academic courses count toward the one-year on-the-job experience. The announcement does not list a required degree.

Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

2 Resume and documents

Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.

3 Apply on USAJOBS

Closes in 10 days (November 13, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).

You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.

How they rate you: Your resume and documents are first checked against the qualifications. Minimally qualified applicants then answer an assessment questionnaire, which is compared with their resume, and applicants who rate themselves higher than their documents support may be lowered or removed from consideration.

4 After you apply

In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Secret), then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • Your resume must show hours per week and month-and-year dates for each job, and should describe your own experience rather than copy the duties.
  • Upload your Soldier Talent Profile from IPPS-A, or a letter of intent if you are not serving in any branch.
  • Confirm you can join the Arkansas Army National Guard at E-4 to E-6 before applying, and contact a recruiter if you are unsure.
