Who can apply: The public, Family of overseas employees.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The announcement is open to the public, but the agency clarifies that it is limited to U.S. citizens in the local commuting area who are current permanent NAF or APF employees, family members of active-duty military members, or family members of DoD civilians.
Experience: You need four years of progressively responsible experience in behavioral or social sciences, equal to a college major in the field. Or you need three years of progressively responsible specialized experience maintaining case files for families. The announcement does not name a grade level for this experience.
Education: A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college in behavioral or social science, or a related field that fits the job. A combination of education and experience can also qualify you. The announcement says the job has no set education requirement.

Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.
2 Resume and documents
Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.
3 Apply on USAJOBS
Closes in 3 days (November 6, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).
You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.
How they rate you: Your resume is first checked for eligibility and minimum qualifications. Eligible resumes are then rated on knowledge, skills and abilities using a set rating scale, and the best qualified go to the hiring manager. The selecting official may choose to interview. Missing required documents may affect your eligibility, and missing official transcripts when qualifying by education results in an ineligibility rating.
4 After you apply
In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.
For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.
If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Secret), then the final offer with your start date.
Tips for this job:
- Attach official transcripts if you qualify by education, since diplomas and degree audits are not accepted.
- Keep your resume to two pages with the required font and margins, because the system blocks longer files.
- Describe your case file, family support and resource coordination work clearly and specifically, since your resume is the main basis for rating.
