Who can apply: The public, Senior executives.

U.S. citizens, nationals, or people who owe allegiance to the U.S. are eligible. The job is open to the public and to senior executives who meet the five Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs), which are leadership skills used across senior federal jobs.

Experience: The announcement does not list a set number of years or a grade level. You must show experience that meets the five ECQs and two technical qualifications: leading large organizations' workforces, and leading high-level logistics and enterprise product support actions.

Education: A bachelor's degree in logistics, acquisition, business administration, or a related field is highly desired. An advanced degree in a business-related field is also highly desired.

Licenses and certifications:

  • Advanced certification in Life Cycle Logistics, or ability to obtain it within 24 months

Experience can be paid or unpaid, volunteer work included: if it matches the duties, it counts. The full rules are in the announcement.

2 Resume and documents

Write a federal resume for this job. For each job you held, give the month and year you started and ended, your hours per week and what you did, using the words of the experience the announcement asks for. Many announcements accept resumes of up to 2 pages: check this one.

3 Apply on USAJOBS

Closes in 9 days (November 12, until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time).

You sign in to USAJOBS with a Login.gov account, answer the questionnaire and upload your documents, then you submit. Answer the questionnaire honestly: your resume must show what you claim.

How they rate you: You are rated on how well your resume shows the five ECQs and two technical qualifications. Resumes over 2 pages are disqualified, and resumes without clear evidence may get no further consideration. Selected candidates are assessed in a structured interview with the OPM Qualifications Review Board.

4 After you apply

In USAJOBS, under Applications, you can see where your application stands: received, reviewed, referred to the hiring manager or not, then selected or not. It can take a few weeks.

For the interview, prepare three examples with the STAR method: the Situation, the Task, what you did (Action) and the Result.

If they choose you: a tentative offer, then a background check, a security clearance (Top Secret), then the final offer with your start date.

Tips for this job:

  • Keep your resume to 2 pages in PDF, Times New Roman 12 point, with 1-inch margins, and do not use the USAJOBS resume builder
  • Show specific, quantified results for each of the five ECQs and two technical qualifications
  • Upload each document as its own separate PDF, since the announcement says not to combine documents
